WHAT ARE COOKIES?

The Marathon Distribution Group website (hereinafter referred to as “Website”) uses Cookies. Cookies are files sent to a browser through a web server to record user activities on a website. In addition, cookies personalize the services offered by the Website, facilitating and providing to each user information that is or that may be of interest, regarding the use of the services.

Cookies, depending on their permanency, can be divided into:

  • “Session cookies” which are the first to expire when the user closes the browser.
  • “Persistent cookies” which are the following that expire, depending on when the purpose for which they serve (for example, for the user to remain identified in the Services) is fulfilled or when they are manually deleted.

In addition, according to their purpose, cookies can be classified as follows:

  • “Performance cookies“: this type of cookie remembers your preferences for the tools found in the services, so you do not have to reconfigure the service every time you visit the website. For example, this typology includes: Volume settings of video or audio players; Streaming speeds of videos that are compatible with your browser.
  • “Geolocation Cookies“: These cookies are used to find out in which country you are when a service is requested. This cookie is completely anonymous and is used only to guide content to your location.
  • “Registration cookies“: registration cookies are generated once the user has registered or subsequently logged in and are used to identify you in services with the following objectives:
    • – Keeps the user identified so that if a service, browser or computer shuts down and at another time or another day enters the service again, it will remain identified, making it easier to navigate without having to stop or reconnect. This functionality can be suppressed if the user clicks on the “log out” function, so this cookie is deleted and the next time the user enters the service, they will have to log in to be identified.
  • Analytical cookies: Each time a user accesses a service or an instrument from an external provider, an analytical cookie is generated on the user’s computer. This Cookie, which is generated only during the visit, will serve in future visits to the web services to identify the anonymous visitor. The main objectives are:
    • – Allows anonymous identification of users browsing through the cookie (identifies browsers and devices, not people) and, therefore, the approximate number of visitors and their tendency over time.
    • – Anonymously identifies the most visited content and therefore more attractive to users.

  • Behavioral advertising cookies modules: This type of cookies allows the extension of information regarding the ads displayed to each anonymous user of the web services, among others, the duration and frequency of display of the advertising positions, their interaction with them or the models and/or navigation compartments of the user, because they contribute to the formation of a profile of advertising interest. In this way, they allow to advertise in relation to the user’s interests.
  • Third-party advertising cookies: In addition to the advertising managed by the Website in its services, the Website offers advertisers the option to run advertisements through third parties (“AdServers”).
